It’s hard to parse the passage of time, to break it down into manageable chunks, to order its events into coherent blocks, or place a moment in a timeline and associate it with its constituent parts. Sometimes, the moments that have the biggest impact happen in such a way that they can’t be properly processed, filed away, and catalogued for easy review-they’re just too numerous and rapid-fire to fully appreciate. Try as you might to amplify the echo that remains in your memory, sometimes the details get lost and the feeling remains. Is what you feel, and how you’ve been changed any less real than what actually happened?

Of consequence: Nervy pass postholing; varmints galore; glissading at Davis Lakes; over-fed long-haired leaping gnomes; river crossing chones.
